The free play area inside the Focus on the Family campus has been a go-to for Colorado Springs families for years. The campus is located at 8605 Explorer Drive on the north side of the city, just off Briargate Parkway near I-25. It's easy to reach from most parts of Colorado Springs, and the facility is clean, well-maintained, and genuinely welcoming — whether you're familiar with their mission or just looking for something to do with your kids on a Tuesday afternoon.
What's Inside the Free Play Area
This is not a foam pit and a plastic slide. The play area is whimsical, thoughtfully designed, and engaging for kids across a range of ages. There are multiple themed rooms to explore, each with its own character — and the variety means kids aren't bored after ten minutes. There's always another room to discover, which is exactly what you want when you're trying to make an afternoon out of it.
One of the most talked-about rooms is the Narnia-themed room — yes, the wardrobe and everything. Kids absolutely love it, and honestly, so do the parents who grew up reading the books. Beyond Narnia, there are other spaces designed to spark imagination and keep little ones moving and engaged.

Between the free play area, the café, and how long kids actually stay occupied inside, this is one of the best value afternoons you can have in the city. I've been doing it for years and I still recommend it to every family I work with who's either new to Colorado Springs or just looking for something different to do.
